Performance Opportunities

Academy's Annual Student Culmination Performance
- This end of the year performance has been highly successful with introducing students to the performing experience and enlightening our students and audience to how the Academy's training process operates. At the end of the 4th Term in June, all Children's Division classes participate in an in-studio lecture demonstration of class room skills and perform a piece of choreography designed for that class and level. This program has been highly successful in introducing young children to the performance experience. Our Recreational Division and Intensive Ballet Division classes participate in a similar performance at Durfee High School Auditorium again in June. Affordable costuming for all performances is used along with the school uniform or costumes are rented.

Musical Theatre Workshop
- For students enrolled in our musical theatre classes. All performances are held at the Academy Studio Theatre. The focus of the musical theatre program is to develop students through the performance experience.  During the course of the school year this program produces 1-2 productions at the Academy Studio Theatre. The MT performance in February was a great success. Congratulations to Jan O'Shaughnessesy and her musical theatre students who gave an outstanding performance to a sold out house on February 2nd. Choreography by Anne Gehman was a perfect accent to the evening. Congratulations to everyone! Check out additional photos in the gallery.

Academy Performance Ensemble
- This summer scholarship training program ends with performances in and around the Fall RIver Community. This program does not require an audition to participate.  The goal for this program to offer students additional performance opportunities while also serving as an outreach program bringing dance to under served areas of the community such as nursing homes and community centers.

Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP)
- This is the only student ballet competition in America which awards scholarships to the leading dance schools in the U.S. and abroad. YAGP was created to provide extraordinary educational and professional opportunities for young student dancers, acting as a stepping stone to a professional dance career. Intensive Ballet Division students 9 years and older who show aptitude, commitment and desire are chosen by audition to compete and or participate in workshops and master classes.

Cast Member with the Spindle City Ballet
- The SCB is Fall River's only non-profit professional ballet company. It is a separate organization that is housed at the Academy studio. The SCB produces three major performances a year of which two offer children's and adult roles, their annual production of The Nutcracker and a full length story ballet each spring. For these productions the company holds open auditions, available to all local dancers for children's and adult roles. Dancers chosen to be cast members in SCB's productions are exposed to the professional performing experience.

Spindle City Ballet Jr. Company
- Intensive ballet division students who are 12 years and older and have studied ballet for 4 years are eligible to audition for the SCB's Jr. Company. Jr. company members are committed to perform with the SCB for an entire season. This branch of the SCB is designed as a training ground for serious students who desire a career in dance. It offers a realistic experience to what would be expected of them as a professional artist.
